What is the Financial Services Authority?

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) is the statutory body that regulates the financial services industry in the UK. It has four main aims:
  • 1. To protect customers
  • 2. To maintain confidence in the U.K.financial system
  • 3. To promote public understanding of the financial system
  • 4. To reduce financial crime.

Under the existing statutory arrangements, all investment firms must follow eleven high-level principles. These cover:
