Penny Share Review 497

Monday 15 June 2009

The Daily Mail on Saturday punned that shares in CoffeeHeaven (COH) “frothed up” after announcing early stage bid talks. This was also reported by Saturday’s Express and Times, but the price was 1.75p lower at 20.00p this morning.

Origo Sino-India (OSI) is “bucking the trend of most private equity firms”, according to today’s Independent, following last week’s Results, which saw revenues increase. Meanwhile, Saturday’s Daily Express highlighted Director buying, but the shares were unchanged at 18.00p earlier today.

Expectation of maiden full-year adjusted profit from Eckoh (ECK) was cited by The Independent today, giving a brief overview of the business. The Results were announced this morning (please see below), which showed this to be the case, however the stock declined by 0.125p to 7.50p following this.

Derek Pain’s “No Pain, No Gain” section of Saturday’s Independent commented that shares in Nighthawk Energy (HAWK) “appear to have settled after their crash last week”, repeating his belief that the sale of its Jolly Ranch stake was a good deal and that the shares (at 46p) were cheap. Nevertheless, the stock was 0.25p weaker at 44.75p during early trading.

The Guardian on Saturday noted the fall in the share price of Synchronica (SYNC), after the Company raised £4.7m in a Placing at 2.5p to fund its collaboration on low cost mobile devices. The Times on Saturday also noted this, adding broker FinnCap’s belief that the shares “still look cheap”. The price was unchanged at 3.00p despite this press attention.

VPhase (VPHA) appeared in today’s Independent, which highlighted the announcement of CE Certification (please see below) potentially allowing the Company to “sell some of its products for the first time” and “continue to develop its pipeline of potential sales contacts”. The shares were ahead by 0.375p at 7.75p after this news.

Prices above were taken at between 10:22am and 10.45am on Monday, 15 June 2009.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
