Wesley Twiss, a director at Addax Petroleum, has spent nearly £50,000 on shares in the oil and gas company.

He bought 2,500 shares at CAD$33.57(£17.87) and now has about 24,000 shares in the company, which is listed on the London and Toronto stock exchanges.

Twiss, who holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario, is chairman of the company's audit committee.

Addax's operations are concentrated in Africa and the Middle East.
