It seems John Gildersleeve, Carphone Warehouse's chairman, is one of the few mobile phone retailers' directors to keep buying in the group.

Gildersleeve snapped up 48,000 shares in Carphone Warehouse at a price of 310p per share. The transaction cost Gildersleeve nearly £150,000 and takes his total stake to 294,000 shares.

While dealings by Carphone directors are not altogether uncommon, Gildersleeve is not a general participant. His last transaction being to snap up 200,000 shares two years ago.

In fact that was also the last major deal that saw a director buying shares in Carphone with most other either selling their own holdings or exercising and selling options.

Earlier this week Roger Taylor, chief financial office, made cashed in 400,000 options. Taylor also sold an additional 600,000 shares making a total sumof £2.85m in the process.
