Halma director splashes out

23 March 2006 15:32:00

Fire safety specialist Halma is not known for its directors dealing in the shares, so it seems worth taking note when a fair chunk is purchased.

Andrew Walker, a non-executive director appointed nearly three years ago, has just snapped up 66,000 shares in the company at 188p per share, for a cost of £124k.

Walker only had a few thousand shares in Halma before this point so his holding now stands at just over 71,000.

The dealing seems even more noteworthy when one considers that shares in Halma are currently standing at an all time high.

Last month the group said its performance was in line with expectations, with income down on the loss of sold businesses, as it confirmed that it was hiving off another one of its group companies.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
