Hardy Amies rallies on Japan deals, China plans

23 October 2007 13:08:00

Hardy Amies more than doubled in value after the couture fashion house announced plans for a move into China and said sales income from Japanese deals will soar by 88% next year.

It said new license deals in Japan will provide sales income of at least £850,000 a year at current exchange rates.

The income from the three year agreements with the ten existing sub-licensee operators in the country compares with the £452,940 included in the profit and loss account for 2006.

The firm has also agreed a joint venture with Aussino Group to develop retail outlets for Hardy Amies in China that will see a capital commitment of £0.5m from each company.

The plan envisages the opening of the first stores in China during 2008.

Chairman Andrew Manders added that it opened its first store outside Savile Row in Edinburgh last Thursday, selling the menswear range.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
