Helphire ekes out FY profit rise

23 September 2008 07:22:00

Accident claim handler Helphire posted a small rise in full year adjusted pre-tax profit as it warned the difficult trading conditions and cost pressures in the early part of the new financial year have remained challenging.

For the year ended 30 June 2008 adjusted profit before tax rose to 46.8m from £45m the year before. Sales for the period surged 39.5% to £404.9m.

The group, which announced plans to raise £45m in July to reduce its reliance on debt finance, said it "recognises that there are more challenges ahead."

A final dividend of 5.8p has been recommended, unchanged from last year. Including the interim dividend, the proposed total dividend for the year is 12.3p, up from 11p the year before.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
