NetPlay's BlackJack game goes live

23 May 2008 09:51:00

AIM-listed interactive gaming company NetPlay TV came up trumps Friday as it announced the successful launch of its new “Live BlackJack” product.

The new service will broadcast daily from 9pm until 3am on Sky channel 848, which it acquired earlier this month from Hollywood TV for £475,000, satisifed through the issue of 2.375m new NetPlay shares.

The service will allow customers to bet on hands drawn by a croupier in real-time while they watch the show on TV or online.

“Later this year, we will merge both "Live Roulette" and "Live BlackJack" into our new brand Supercasino.com and we will continue to develop and add new games to the casino portfolio,” pledged Martin Higginson, chairman and chief executive of NetPlay TV.

The new service was launched in beta form on Monday 19 May, the same day the company announced a trading update in which it said EBITDA was £843,000 for the first four months, with April exceeding £300,000.

Revenue for continuing operations increased 61% to £9.4m but pre-tax losses for the period increased to £4m from £164,000 last year due to higher cost of sales and a £2.4m exceptional charge.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
