Netcall slides after difficult first half

19 March 2008 08:24:00

Netcall, the maker of the Queuebuster telephone call-back software, suffered a big drop in half year profit as difficult macro-economic conditions had a negative effect on business levels.

Profit before share based charges and tax for the six months ended 31 December 2007 fell to £282,900 from £429,000 a year earlier on turnover down 16% to £1.69m from £2m.

The company said the numbers were hit by a decline in licence sales with a number of customers delaying purchasing decisions, including delays in projects via channel partners of which QueueBuster was an element.

But the company maintained that demand for its products remains strong and that it expects profits in the second half to be in line with market expectations.

"We remain confident that, based on current business levels together with a strong pipeline and ongoing robust cost management, the company will achieve a satisfactory outcome for the year," it said.

"Netcall has an increasingly substantial cash position and, given our robust cost management, strength of recurring revenues and our strong business prospects we look toward the second half with confidence," added chairman Ron Elder.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
