Motion capture technology firm OMG has seen a major share sale by its deputy chairman as the shares hit a four and a half year high.

Dr Julian Morris, who founded the group more than twenty years ago, sold 2m shares at 44p per share netting £880,000 in the process.

The sale, which OMG said was in response to institutional investor demand for its shares, still leaves Morris with a healthy 18.5% stake equivalent to 11.1m shares.

Executive director Catherine Robertson also sold 27,000 shares at 45p per share netting a much more modest £12,000. She retains a stake of 1.27m.

Although directors in the company are not frequent dealers in OMG shares, the sale mirrors a similar move in January this year when Morris sold 500,000 and Robertson 66,000.

The news comes after OMG reported a surge in profits last week to £1.74m for the year to September compared with £690,000 a year ago. Turnover went up 14.5% to £16.3m.
