Petrofac chief executive Ayman Asfari sold nearly £34m in shares in the oil and gas services provider yesterday.

He personally sold 1.5m shares at £6.15 a go and sold 4m shares at the same price through his Lamia Trust. The sale leaves him with around 63.8m shares in the company, or about 18.46%.

Earlier this month Maroun Semaan, chief executive of the company's engineering and construction division, offloaded 3m shares at £5.65 each through the Nola Trust - in which he and his close family are beneficiaries - leaving it with a holding of around 30m shares, or 8.7% of Petrofac.

On April 18, the company said it had secured an award that could be worth $115m to supply equipment for a gas plant in Kazakhstan owned by Agip KCO, a division of the Italian oil and gas giant Eni.

"We are delighted to have secured this additional work; it represents Agip KCO's continued confidence in Petrofac to deliver," said Semaan.
