Signet chairman more than doubles stake

17 January 2008 16:31:00

Jeweller Signet's chairman Malcolm Williamson has bought a further 100,000 shares in the company, more than doubling his stake to 173,999 shares.

He bought the shares for 63p, having purchased 12,394 shares at 56.4p each on January 14.

Shares in Signet rallied today, despite the company reporting last week a fall in sales during the Christmas period which prompted a broker downgrade from JP Morgan on January 14.

The troubled jeweller's share price has almost halved in the past six months.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
