Small caps round-up: Core Business, Tecteon, Minerva Resource

09 November 2007 16:13:00

Core Business said first half of the financial year has seen a significant increase in the level of sales. Group sales for the six months to 30 November 2007 are expected to be just under £1m.

"This has been due to a combination of the successful acquisition of Amirose International Limited in July, and the development of a growing brand distribution business within Core," said the group.

Tecteon spurred forward after it signed a new joint venture with Zamcu, which will result in the company starting a new strategy.

Zamcu is controlled by Minerale Afrique, which holds the licence to recover 18,000 tons per month of ores and transport them to South Africa for sale.

"The directors intend the signing of the joint venture to be the first stage in the development of the company as a trader in and processor of base metals and a circular convening a general meeting of the company to approve the transaction will be posted to shareholders in due course," said the group.

Minerva Resource jumped after the group said recent drilling has intersected extensions of mineralised zones at Tulu Kapi, Ethiopia.

"The good core intersections, good strike and depth continuity to the mineralised zones, and presence of gold nuggets at surface all add to our confidence that Tulu Kapi is shaping up to be an asset of merit," said the group.

Environmental technology firm Mid-States said revenues for the year totalled £4.1m compared to nil for the 18 months to June 2006 last year. Operating loss rose to £3.2m from the loss of £400,000 in the same period last year.

Bankers Petroleum said revenue for the third quarter increased 77% to $16.4m compared to $9.4m in the same period last year.

Kenmare Resources shareholders have voted in favour to oust deputy chairman Donal Kinsella from the Irish firm.

Property investment firm Wichford said non-executive chairman Michael Sheehan has retired and Uruguay Mineral said Pablo Ferrari has left his role as finance director.
