Small caps round-up: Faces Cosmetics, Ascent Resources, UrAsia

Faces Cosmetics, the North American make-up and skin care products firm, was in demand today after announcing it is to open two new stores in Mexico City.

"Future expansion plans in Mexico include the opening of 2 new stores in the next 4 to 6 months. In addition, plans to extend the retail network by a major department store concession programme are at an advanced stage of negotiation," added the group.

The group, which floated on AIM in September, currently operates 55 stores, 16 of which are in Mexico.

Shares in oil and gas explorer Ascent Resources were down today despite managing director Jeremy Eng saying that "good progress has been made on the company's two projects in Hungary."

He added that both of these projects have the capability to increase reserves, as well as produce and sell gas in the short-term.

Canada-based UrAsia Energy was on the rise today after the group's shareholders approved the merger with Uranium One by 99.89%.

"The overwhelming vote in favour of this arrangement by UrAsia shareholders, demonstrates clear support for the business combination with Uranium One," said UrAsia president and CEO Phillip Shirvington.
