Small caps round-up: Tinci, Psion, Cryptologic

Environmental engineering company Tinci said it has seen a turnaround in its business during the second half of 2007.

Profit before tax for the year reduced to RMB6.14m (Chinese yuan) versus RMB12.38m previously on turnover that fell slightly to RMB260.6m from RMB277.7m.

"In view of the loss experienced in the first half of the year, the profit we have recorded for the full year marks a considerable improvement in Tinci's business during the second half of 2007," said the group.

Psion said order intake in the first four months of 2008 has been strong and the mobile computing solutions firm expects that results for the first half will be in line with expectations.

The group said demand for its products, especially those addressing the Wide Area Mobile markets, is continuing to be buoyant.

"Subject to stable economic conditions, the group is well placed for long-term growth and improved returns to shareholders," said chairman David Potter.

A day after announcing a tie-up with 888 Holdings, Internet gaming software developer Cryptologicannounced another licensing deal, this time with a new online poker site.

OPoker.com, a poker site launched by a group of Scandinavian executives with experience of running online gaming sites, has contracted Cryptologic to be the sole provider of gaming software for its site. It will also handle customer support services, e-cash management and business service support.

Recruitment software provider Dillistone Group has signed a new contract with HR Partners, one of the largest retained executive search firms in Singapore.

Silicon Valley-focused venture capital and consulting firm Berkeley Technology made a net loss of $0.4m in the first quarter versus a net profit of $0.7m a year ago.

It slip into the red was blamed on a $0.9m drop in realized investment gains, a $0.1m reduction in consulting fee income and a $0.1m fall in investment income due to lower interest rates and insurance policy maturities.

Shares in Zambezi Resources jumped after the group announced the discovery of a potentially significant VTEM anomaly at the 100% owned Kangaluwi Copper Project in Southern Zambia.

Plant Offshore, which provides support services for the renewable energy sector, said 2007 has seen significant growth with revenues exceeding its initial expectations. Pre-tax profit for the year rose 188% to around £2.3m on turnover that increased 233% to around £14m.

Document management software provider Invu has reached an agreement with Wacom, to integrate Wacom's digital pen technology with its Ergo software.

ReEnergy has entered into non-binding heads of agreement regarding the possible disposal of its Estech Europe autoclaving technology unit to a company listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Minerva said the third quarter of the financial year has seen further progress made in the implementation of the group's strategy.

"The development of our landmark projects continues to advance and we have achieved a number of key milestones during the quarter," said the group.
