TechMARK movers: DRS Data expects profit rise

14 May 2007 16:13:00

Census and ballot counting firm DRS Data was today's best performer. Today the group said sales for the first quarter are "similar" to the same period last year, adding that it expects first half year pre-tax profits significantly higher.

Sales for the three month are 4% down on the previous year, but DRS expects sales for the first half year to be in excess of £12m compared to £9m previously. The group added that it looks for a full-year turnover of £20m.

DRS also stressed that its e-Counting solution provided for the Scottish election worked well and that the high number of spoilt ballot papers arose from circumstances outside of the group's control.

Struggling UK software firm iSOFT was among the fallers. The company has been in takeover talks for some time and was approached by IBA Health last week.

The Australian firm's shares were halted at its own request as it looks to facilitate a possible combination of IBA and iSOFT, to be executed by a recommended all-share offer.

iSOFT shareholders would receive 1.1 new IBA shares for each iSOFT share, valuing iSOFT at around 56.9 p per share.
