Testing complete at East Breagh well say groups

21 October 2008 10:16:00

Oil and gas groups EnCore Oil, Faroe Petroleum and Stratic Energy said testing was completed on the East Breagh well 42/13-4, producing 10.2m standard cubic feet of gas per day.

Final rate was held for a period of twelve hours before shutting in for pressure build up.

A lower gas bearing sand was also identified in the well. This sand unit tested independently from the combined flow test at rates of up to 1.6mmscfd.

"This is the first time such a lower unit has been tested individually and in addition to proving gas, it provides additional upside and potential for stimulation in future wells," said the groups.

EnCore has a 15% interest in the licence, Faroe has 10% and Sterling Resources is the operator.

"The results of this well suggest that the Breagh field is likely to be a single significant gas accumulation. Both wells 42/13-3 and 42/13-4 have demonstrated reservoir deliverability from vertical well bores and the latter well has also demonstrated productivity from a lower reservoir," said EnCore's chief executive Alan Booth.

"The next well in the sequence is a deviated well due to commence shortly in the western part of the structure, and is designed to test for higher flow rates to assist in determining the number of wells needed to develop the discovery," said Stratic's President and chief executive.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
