Walker Greenbank recovery continues

10 April 2008 12:28:00

Wallpaper-to-textiles group Walker Greenbank continued its recovery in 2007, with underlying profits up 60% and the group optimistic about future prospects.

Revenue in 2007 rose by 15% to £62.5m (2007: £54.4m), with operating profits up from £2.48m to £3.96m. Profit before taxation rose 119% to £3.1m from £1.42m excluding one-offs last time.

Walker said all of its brands, Harlequin, Sanderson (including Morris & Co.) and Zoffany, performed strongly, with the business helped by continuing popularity of wallpaper.

'We are confident that our strategy will deliver growth in both revenue and profits in the coming years. Two months of our current financial year are now completed, during which time the Group has continued to trade strongly. We remain confident of a very satisfactory outcome for the year," chairman Ian Kirkham said.

There is no dividend.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
