Widney warns of 'small' FY loss

01 October 2008 15:22:00

Window systems and automotive equipment firm Widney warned that results for the year ended 30 September are expected to fall below expectations and show a small loss following a fall in demand from a number of key customers.

The group said the normal seasonal slowdown over the summer was exacerbated by extended shutdowns and lower than expected schedules from some of its customers.

To date the expected improvement in demand has not occurred and the group has little visibility on orders beyond 31 December 2008, it added.

"The group is actively managing its costs to bring them in to line with the current level of demand," Widney said.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
