World Careers up by a third

26 April 2006 16:21:00

Internet recruitment software group World Careers Network gained more than a third of its value today as first half profit jumped over 85% and the group said it expects healthy second half sales.

Pre-tax profit soared to £586,000 in the half year to 31 January from £316,315 a year earlier on turnover up from £1.45m to £1.81m this time.

"WCN's strong position in a relatively buoyant market has enabled us both to expand business with existing clients and add new client," it said.

Because its cost base is largely fixed group profits have risen even more sharply, it added.

The company said it continues to maintain a strong competitive position in its market and expects healthy second half sales.

"However, our cost base will rise during the second half year as we have taken on additional premises and continue our recruitment drive as a result of which we expect our headcount to rise by around 50% by 31 July compared to the beginning of the financial year."

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
