Penny Share Review 165

Monday 06 January 2003

The Weekend's Comments

The newspapers were a little spartan for 'Penny Share' coverage over the weekend, in particular for companies in which City Equities customers might have an interest.

Only The Independent (Saturday) offered us something as they reported on the purchase of 30,000 shares at 13.5p by John Varney, the Finance Director of Conder Environmental (CDE). Conder shares have done well recently, albeit within quite a thin market, and Mr Varney's buy helped the stock firm 0.25p on the day. As at 09:23 today, the shares were unchanged at 13.5p (13p-14p) from Friday's close.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
