Press

Several newspapers on Saturday commented on the rise in the shares of London Asia Capital (LDC) on Friday, after it revealed it had a 2.8% stake in the recent Ofex listed company, Betex. As the Financial Times highlighted, LDC’s stake in the online football betting company is worth over £300,000. The shares traded unchanged this morning at 16.00p.

Both the Independent and Daily Mail on Saturday briefly noted that Northern Petroleum (NOP) rose 1.75p on Friday, after it revealed drilling would soon be under way on the Sandhills-2 site on the Isle of Wight. Shares in the oil and gas explorer moved higher by 0.63p on Tuesday to 9.88p.

“Institutions are now taking a much closer look… ” at GB Group (GBG), the Daily Mail reported on Saturday, leading to a 6p rise in the share price on Friday. The paper believes the Group “should prosper”, as “ID stealing is currently a red hot topic in crime ridden Britain… ”. Meanwhile, on the same day, the Daily Express had a different take on Friday’s rise, believing that bid talk had boosted the shares. The stock continued its advance this week, rising by 1.25p to 41.25p on Tuesday Morning ahead of its expected results announcement on Wednesday.

Tuesday morning prices above were taken just after 10.15 on 31 May 2005.
