Penny Share Review 315

05 December 2005

Press

Galleon Holdings (GON) featured in The Independent today, drawing attention to the Company’s acquisition of the rights to the ‘Mysti’ children’s entertainment brand. The TV show went out on Saturday morning and related books have sold 100k copies. Nevertheless, the shares dropped by 0.25p this morning to 14.25p regardless of this attention. Sunday’s Observer commented on the agreement announced today between the German based energy and environment division, established by London Asia Capital (LDC) and the China Environmental Protection Foundation (please see below), remarking on its implications providing the Company with ‘first refusal’ over environmental projects. The piece noted the rise in Chinese pollution and the government’s move to look towards renewable energy sources. Following this media attention, an increase in the share price of 0.50p was witnessed this morning, as the shares reached 13.25p.

The start of trading for AIM stocks on Sets MM, the electronic order book, by the London Stock Exchange was noted in today’s FT, which commented on this coinciding with the launch of the quote-driven system from Plus Markets (PMK). The article commented that SetsMM might narrow margins, but that the LSE felt that this spread squeezing was no bad thing, cutting costs and increasing the value of the shares traded. It was also noted that development costs might impact the Company’s financial results. The situation was also highlighted by today’s Times, which commented that market makers Winterflood, Teather & Greenwood, KBC Peel Hunt, Cenkos Securities and Hoodless Brennan support the Plus Markets system. However, a downturn in the share price occurred during Monday morning’s trading, as the shares lost 0.38p to 23.88p.

The Daily Express on Saturday featured Stanelco (SEO), commenting on ‘brisk’ trading fuelled by speculation that a deal with a major American fast food chain could be on the way. The shares were trading at 15.00p, ahead by 1.00p this morning.

Monday morning prices were taken around 10.30am on 5 December 2005.
