Penny Share Review 318

03 January 2006

Press

Tuesday’s Daily Express featured Air Music and Media (AMU), which was one of its tips for 2005, remarking that the distributor had a rocky year. It added that a good Christmas trading period would go some way to help the Company make up some lost ground. The shares were off by 0.50p this morning, trading at 2.50p.

Chromogenex’s (CGX) NLite laser treatment was spotlighted by Tuesday’s Daily Express, as being the solution to one young woman’s acne problem. The article highlighted the various treatments she had tried before paying £1,000 for a package of consultations, which had an impact after just two days. There was no mention of the Company by name, but press such as this in the health sections of newspapers is the kind of PR that stimulates consumer interest. The shares were unchanged at 7.63p.

“It should be all systems go for Earthport (EPO), at 42p”, according to Geoff Foster of the Daily Mail on New Year’s Eve. He reckons two deals that should greatly enhance prospects “could happen in early 2006”. The first is believed to be an exciting joint venture with electronic wallet group NETeller, while the second is a licensing deal with an international debit card group interested in Earthport’s ‘virtual purse’. Mr Foster suggests the shares are “worth a punt”. This seems to have sparked some life into the shares, as they were up 2.75p this morning to reach 45.00p.

Recent events at Real Affinity (RAF) were included in an article about Chairman Stuart Pearson and his involvement at Langbar International in The Sunday Times. The latter’s bid for the Company was called off after Mr Pearon “stumbled across an alleged £350m fraud”, with the article questioning the reasons behind the acquisition, given RAF’s poor results. The shares were unchanged this morning at 0.23p.

Sareum Holdings (SAR) was up, according to Saturday’s Daily Express, on hopes that good news was on its way about a couple of major contracts. The shares were unchanged this morning at 2.50p.

Tuesday morning prices were taken around 10.20am on 3 January 2006.
