Penny Share Review 319

09 January 2006

Press

Alltrue Investments (ATR) appeared in Monday’s Daily Express, which provided comment on the 2 acquisitions announced today (please see below) and the cross selling opportunities that are hoped for, along with Chairman Leo Knifton’s belief that the business has the potential to grow to a market value of £40-£50m. Following this press attention and the earlier announcement, the shares rose by 0.13p to 1.13p this morning.

Saturday’s Daily Mail featured Electric Word (ELE) under its ‘Broker buys’ section, commenting that Panmure recommended buying the shares at 8.6p following the acquisition of Sports Business Group and The Business from the 8/9 January provided further coverage of this acquisition remarking that rapid growth is being experienced in the markets of sport, sport rights and online gaming, concluding with a ‘Buy’ rating. This momentum appeared to continue this morning, as the shares added 1.25p to reach 10.50p.

Griffin Mining (GFM) could perform well again in 2006, according to Saturday’s Independent, due to the potential of its Chinese prospect. However, regardless of this, the share price fell by 1.00p to 64.25p during Monday morning’s session.

The weekend’s FT provided a progress review of Oxford BioMedica (OXB) over 2005 and commented that there is anticipation of uplift in the share price if a licensing deal is signed for TroVax. The piece went on to note that Evolution, the house broker, forecasts losses for 2005 of £12m, but improved its price target to 45p on expectation of such news and Monday morning’s trading saw positive movement of 1.75p as the share price climbed to 33.25p.

Metals Exploration (MTL) appeared in The Independent on Saturday, which noted that the Company is a ‘punt tip’ due to the attention it is attracting through its gold activities in the Philippines. This positive coverage led to an improvement in the shares of 1.50p to 37.00p this morning.

Monday morning prices were taken around 10.30am on 9 January 2006.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
