Saturday’s Daily Express noted that shares in African Eagle (AFE) had benefited following the discovery of gold in Tanzania. This momentum seemed somewhat short lived however, as the share price dropped by 0.25p to 22.25p during Monday morning’s session.

The Times on Saturday featured Provexis (PXS) under its ‘Rumour of the day’ headline, commenting that talk of the Company licensing its fruitflow technology to Nestle was unable to prevent a price slip in the shares. Nevertheless, a gain of 0.88p was witnessed during Monday morning’s trading pushing the shares to a price of 9.38p.

The ‘No Pain, No Gain’ column, comprising part of Saturday’s Independent, provided a review of Supporta (SOR) (Formerly Staffing Ventures) and drew comparisons with Mears Group, due to the involvement of Bob Holt. The piece noted that there were similarities between the two but that Supporta was a ‘nimble footed acquirer’ with more takeovers plans expected. The article suggested that the market was worth £2bn a year and that City support had been strong with institutions holding around 85% although the Company is yet to make real money. But regardless of this press attention, the shares fell by 0.50p to 87.50p this morning.

Jumpit (JUM.L) appeared in The Daily Express on Saturday, which commented that the share price had fallen following news from the company that the iRecharge product had been selling slower than anticipated. This sentiment did not appear to continue though, as the share price added 0.25p rising to 11.75p this morning.

Monday morning prices were taken around 9.45am on 23 January 2006.
