Penny Share Review 347

24 July 2006

The Daily Express on Saturday included Earthport (EPO) under its “Week of Dealing” section. The column reported its halving in value since January, but that Directors’ share buying activity had lifted the share price to above 24p. However, the price drifted this morning by 1.00p to 23.50p.

Shares in Gaming Corporation (GMC.L) gained ahead of a trading update due this week, as two Directors acquired 490,000 shares between them, according to The Times on Saturday. This momentum did not seem to spill over into Monday morning’s session, however, where the share price drifted by 0.25p to 8.50p.

A piece in the weekend’s The Business headlined “Hold your nerve to fill your war chest” discussed the randomness of markets and suggested that it could be a good time to gain exposure to gold. Featuring several larger gold connected shares, the article also name GMA Resources (GMA) and Oxus Gold (OXS) for the speculator. Following this press attention, the former’s share price was unchanged at 10.75p, while the latter’s fell by 2.00p to 41.00p during this morning’s session.

Oxus Gold (OXS) was also highlighted in the Sunday Telegraph, after its CEO called on Tony Blair to intervene again in the Kyrgyzstan dispute over a gold concession. However, the Kyrgyz president, Bakiyev, maintained that the license had been awarded elsewhere after the Company had failed on its obligation to build up the mine in a timely manner.

ReGen Therapeutics (RGT) appeared in Saturday’s Telegraph, which commented that the share price had edged forward, following the confirmation of a £1.1m placing to fund drug development. The article went on to note the Company’s admission that it may need to raise additional funds in future, but the shares were unchanged this morning at 1.07p.

The prices given above were taken between 9.00am and 10.00am on 24 July 2006.
