Penny Share Review 376

Monday 19 February 2007

Saturday’s Times picked up on the positive response to Beowulf Mining’s (BEM) institutional presentations last week. However, the shares were unchanged at 4.25p in trading this morning.

The acquisition of the UK telematics division of France’s Thales for 31m in cash by CybIT (CYH) was noted by Saturday’s Times. The shares were ahead by 2p this morning, reaching 54.5p, although we suspect it was news of director buying that has sparked this interest (see announcement below).

Ennstone’s (ENN) purchase of Mansfield Asphalt for £7.1m in cash and shares seemed to disappoint traders, according to Saturday’s Daily Mail. Traders have been hoping that the Company’s determined stance to remain independent would have abated, with the management finally succumbing to the consolidation trend in the building materials trade. The shares were down slightly this morning off 0.25p at 47.75p.

Saturday’s Guardian picked up on an upbeat trading statement by Speymill (SYG). The paper reminded readers that the Group recently won a contract for 150-bed safari hotel at Chessington World of Adventure. The shares appeared to have lost their positive momentum for the moment, as the stock shaded by 1.25p to 81.5p in trading this morning.

The prices were taken between 9.55am 10.10am on Monday 19 February 2007.
