Penny Share Review 393

Monday 18 June 2007

The weekend edition of the Financial Times's Money section saw half a page devoted to the story of Oak Holdings (OAH), including going through its previous incarnations of Anglo-Welsh and AWG Services. More a narrative than a piece of advice, author and Oak shareholder Kevin Goldstein-Jackson's take on the development of the YES! project near Rotherham has him "cautious but optimistic". One or two others seem to have taken the same view today, with the shares up 1p to 78.5p-mid. More speculative interest in Scotty (SCO) saw its shares gain 0.03p on Friday, noted the following day's edition of the Daily Express. The editor said, "rehashed talk of a Eurocopter contract win" was responsible, but as this is a rumour that has been around for some time the relative gain in the shares was modest. Indeed, so far this morning they are unmoved at 1.18p. A spirited rise in the shares of Zambezi Resources (ZRL) was commented on in The Times on Saturday, following French group Areva's bid for UraMin. The leap of 5.75p on Friday came after a more gentle rise as explorers on the hunt for uranium have gained a lot of investors' attention and that has continued into today, with the stock a penny better at 28.5p.

The prices above were taken at around 10.50am on Monday, 18 June 2007.

Risk Warning

There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
