Penny Share Review 410

Monday 15 October 2007

An article in Monday's Independent suggests that drivers caught speeding could “scrape some of their fines back by taking a punt” on Appian Technology (APN). A new deal with California-based Civica Software could be the signal for a significant turnaround in the Company's fortunes and is the first deal secured with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Confirmation of the deal by RNS helped add 0.25p to the shares this morning and they now stand at 6.13p, although some way off this year’s high.

According to Saturday's Independent, EBTM (EBTM) shares could be a good way of profiting from the shift from CD sales towards music merchandise. It mentions that the shares are cheap, trading at 5.4-times broker Blue Oar Securities’ projected earnings for 2008, falling to 3.7 times in 2009. The advice was “Even if this is not one for widows and orphans, it could be one for rockers. Buy.” However, the shares were unmoved in early trade at 4.75p.

A quite detailed article in the Sunday Telegraph talked of the acquisitive nature of NeutraHealth (NUT) since its listing on AIM in February 2005. It makes the point that the sale of a 20% stake to the Indian firm Elder for 16p a share was significantly above the then and current share price. NeutraHealth is looking to push forward sales at its existing businesses and has an expectation to hit £25m revenues and £3m profits this year, whilst significant growth will depend on managing acquisitions, in particular gaining traction in online sales. An associated article quoted Sir Gulam Noon (a non-executive Director) and his hopes for the business. Despite offering no specific advice, the shares reacted well today and were trading 0.75p better at 13.25p at the time of writing.

The prices above were taken at 10:51 on Monday, 15 October 2007.
