Air Music & Media (AMU), Millbrook Scientific Instruments (MBK) and e-pay Asia (EPY) all got a brief mention (in a list of ten AIM companies) in the Guardian from Saturday, which reported on the work of broker Seymour Pierce, who highlighted that “new management can quickly unlock value” and reward shareholders in 12 to 15 months. The research nevertheless failed to lift the shares today, with all three unchanged so far, with AMU at 56.5p, EPY at 2.75p and MBK at 1.5p.
In a ‘Review of the Week’ section, Saturday’s Independent mentioned its midweek ‘Speculative Buy’ recommendation on Altona Resources (ANR) and recapped on plans to turn vast coal deposits in South Australia into gas and synthetic fuels with help of a mystery Chinese investor. The shares remained at 5.75p this morning.
Shares in Encore Oil (EO.L) rose last Friday on bid talks, the Weekend FT noted, as traders were betting that companies in the UK gas market were looking at those with gas storage capability, following the £354m acquisition of Star Energy by Petronas. It would seem the bid speculation is continuing, as the shares moved higher by 2.5p today to 52.25p.
Monday’s Financial Times reported on the possibility of some form of collaboration between new AIM entrant today Darwen Holdings and Tanfield (TAN), given Roy Stanley’s position as Chairman at both companies. Darwen, a Hybrid bus manufacturer of low emission buses, could work with Tanfield on smaller vehicles. Tanfield perked up today, trading 4.75p higher at 96.5p.

Penny Shares Online - penny shares research and information service.
There is an extra risk of losing money when shares are bought in some smaller companies including 'Penny Shares'. There is a big difference between the buying price and the selling price of these shares. If they have to be sold immediately, you may get back much less than you paid for them or you may have difficulty in selling them. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. The price may change quickly and it may go down as well as up. You could lose every penny put into a particular share.
